2024 Christmas Tree Hunt

Image
Anwyn and I are back from getting this year's Christmas tree. It was hard to find the time to travel 2 hrs to St. Brieux and then back, given how trying the last month has been, but I'm glad I did. The Road about 2/3 of our trip was on a pretty good one lane highway. The remainder was a hodgepodge of gravel of varying widths. With the recent snow and ice, some of those parts were treacherous (icy, bumpy, narrow). The Rescue On one of the gravel bits, at a 'T' intersection, we found a pickup truck who missed the 'T' all the way off the road in the ditch at about a 30 degree inclination. I can't believe I neglected to take a picture. The occupant was fine and I was going to take him to a nearby farm and see if we could get some help. We decided to first try the tiny ratchet straps that he had in his glove box. Miraculously, they survived just long enough to drag him up and out of the ditch. One of them snapped just as he got back onto the road. Wildlife - Down...

Summer 2019 - a.k.a. Catch Up for Kent

Okay, so you know about my New Zealand trip and my ongoing coffee obsession, but now that I am off G+ and Facebook, has my daily life stopped? Nope. Work The most straight forward part of my life is work. At least I feel that it has the fewest subheadings ;) I continue to work part-time at the library . Mostly, I am based out of the JS Wood Branch, but I find myself doing story times or special projects all around Saskatoon’s nine public branches. Much of my time is spent doing preparation and training for some of our newer programming staff and the rest is working with the public as a facilitator for paint nights, story times, robotics interactions, etc... I am currently working on a couple of special shows. One for the Remai Modern. I am doing a puppet show for them in September and the following week I am doing a workshop on shadow puppetry for teens. Another is for the Festival of Trees . The library will provide feature storytelling and puppetry at the end of the ...

Coffee Quest -- Part 1

Image
Fair Warning. This blog post, while it is about life's most delicious beverage, will be handwritten and published as JPEGs. Also, I'm still (and increasingly) angry with Google and Blogger, but I'm still here... for the time being. This Post represents about 3 months of coffee testing--from November 13th, 2018 to February 15th, 2019. The project is only partially completed, but I wanted to be able to share it with you right now. Perhaps you will benefit from our tasting experience.

Barcelona, Spain 2017 - 04

Just a little wrap up. I'm safely at home after a very long flying day. Here are a last couple of thoughts on the trip. The complete photo album is here. If you don't have the Google Photos app, yet... what are you doing? It is pretty awesome. Also, you could have been getting notified whenever the album had new photos added to it, like Brad and Anwyn :) Finally, I've put all my hand-written  journal pages into their own album and added page numbers. I had no idea that there would be so many when I started. Thanks for coming to Barcelona. Feel free to call me to talk about it, or just throw some questions or comments down below.

Sorry for the delay. I've been displaying good judgement and going to sleep before 1 A.M. Tough to live a life and blog it all in the 24 hrs. they give you ;)

Here is your second instalment of my "Daddy/Daughter" trip to Barcelona with Anwyn. The photo archive continues to grow. However, there is a lag in my uploads (I blame 30 Megapixel photos and 3rd-rate WiFi), so you won't have access to everything for an indeterminate period of time. Mik
