Halloween 2012

I think I just lost a button! Wendy and I are not much for partying. This year we started off Halloween a little bit early. We got some tickets to a Diabetes fundraiser and enjoyed ourselves dancing part of the night away with Jodi. The band played a little too much country for our taste but, for the most part they seem to read their audience well. We're just not typical, I guess. Anyway, the cool thing is that we got to design steam punk costumes for ourselves. I really love to make things and this was an awesome opportunity to play around with paint and cheap doodads that we found at Value Village. The two feature parts of my costume were the knee-length leather jacket which I found for $14 and a top hat. The hat was originally baby blue felt, which just wouldn't work for my particular costume. Although, as it turns out, it would've matched Wendy's outfit pretty well. Alas, the candied corn wound up in the trash :( Sadly, my camera had just arrived back fr...

Stories (Ghost and Otherwise)

A couple of days ago, Wendy bought me a replica of Bilbo's sword, Sting. Needless to say I was ecstatic. The Hobbit has been my favourite story for as long as I can remember. From the time I was 10 years old, I pretty much assumed that one day a great big adventure would walk through my door and sweep me away. When I got married, I began to realize that adventures come in more shapes and sizes than I had at first thought and that opportunities to save the world as we know it were relatively rare (still don't know anyone who has done it). So, we're on the subject of stories... A few weeks ago, I was asked to tell a story in front of an adult audience. This was to be part of my job at the library and I was excited. I've been enjoying the illusion that I am being paid to become a master storyteller. The mundane details of my job are bec...

Did you see it coming?

Yes, that's right. I'm going to be skipping out on you all on Q-Wednesdays. There are 4 rehersals scheduled per week (not including set construction), and even if they weren't T,W,Th, and Su, I would still need to bail until near Christmas. It's gonna be hard for you to survive without me, but somehow you will pull through. I am hoping to still manage to see you on the shooting range most Saturdays (hope, hope) . Since it's Halloween and all, I hope to have some pics up tomorrow, or the day after. Just in case you don't know what it looks like or something.
